Professional Experience

First National · Toronto, Ontario

11/2025 – Present

Junior AppOps Technician, Application Development — financial services (mortgage lender)

  • Write SQL against MS SQL Server for ad-hoc reporting and data-extract requests: 30+ resolved in just over six months across 5+ business areas, including mortgage operations, broker relationships, residential taxes, and transformation projects.
  • Turn vague requests into testable report definitions (source, grain, date logic, status and duplicate rules); e.g., delivered a 459-event, 288-transaction document-activity report from undocumented application data as an auditable Excel extract.
  • Reconstructed historical identifier changes for 300+ records from field-level audit logs with read-only SQL; normalized inconsistent null and placeholder values, preserved multi-step histories, and resolved every populated record.
  • Built a 13+ field insured-mortgage audit report for a major bank client, refined through multiple stakeholder review rounds, matched to application screens, and saved as reusable SQL for repeat pulls.
  • Designed and prototyped an AI-assisted semantic search over historical ticket data (vector embeddings / retrieval-augmented generation) to turn operational history into a reusable knowledge base; evaluated local vs. API embedding options against security and tooling constraints and documented the architecture and blockers.
  • Build and maintain documentation, queries, and data/knowledge assets used across a cross-functional team; proposed a business-function-based model for application health monitoring of a complex, undocumented environment.
